Spring has Srung!
I go away for awhile and come back to spring, sweet!
I'm not allowed to do too much, doctors orders.
I definitely don't want to create more problems!
My diagnosis is not official yet (pathology is having a closer look) but my Doctor thinks the tumor was benign.
Just popping in to say thanks to everyone for all the support!
Just out in the yard with the Droid and caught this at the right time of day.
The best camera and all :~)Spring has srung! (hey, who the heck took my "P"?)

My diagnosis is not official yet (pathology is having a closer look) but my Doctor thinks the tumor was benign, I think he's qualified to make that statement. Just popping in to say thanks to everyone for all the support! Out in the yard with the Droid and caught this at the right time of day. The best camera and all, edit in Picnik. Which reminds me did you see that Picnik was bought by Google? Not sure if it will be around Flickr for free for long. Hopefully some better pics soon. My ducks are back. Donna's Communion
Whole bunch of technical difficulties but the biggest was the weather! Sure it looks sunny and nice, NOT! It was so stinking cold, this poor kid was freezing. :( She was a great champ though, allowing me to to get a couple of shots in. After about 15 minutes or so we went to plan "B" which was thankfully indoors! Good thing I brought my big black sheet :D Strobist info; SB-800 (fell off the stand because I had it in wrong) 24mm 1/2 through a white umbrella on a HLS camera right CLS fired via SU-800 D700 85mm ƒ1.4@ƒ1.6 ISO200 1/4000 (that's four thousands of a sec)

I wanted to try high key too but that was asking a lot from a seven year old. We went out for Ice cream instead :D View On Black Strobist info; SB-800 grid, high back right 105mm 1/4 SB-900 grid, high back left 105mm 1/4 SB-900 into softbox left 24mm 1/4 42" white reflector right Black sheet over windows as BG CLS fired via SU-800 D700 85mm ƒ1.4@ƒ2 ISO400 1/6400* *I wanted to isolate her against a black BG but the sun kept shining through the black sheet, I kept bumping up the speed until finally 1/6400 did the trick. I also needed to up the ISO because I was already at 1/4 pwr on the flashes
Antoinette
Antoinette was my mother's name and oh boy did she hate it! LOL! I on the other hand love the name <3 For the shots in this door way: I had the 900 on camera pointed at 45 deg up at a white wall. A bounce blocking the front and side of the flash, leaving the top exposed to the ceiling. Never any direct light from the flash. Congratulations to the new weds :D Overcast and raining all day just up to the point of the ceremony. Then the sky opened up and the sun was shining just as she come down the isle! Couldn't have planned it better! This was just before the wedding in the dressing room. One SB-900 Pointed to the white ceiling.... Finally finished editing these images (busy with my real job too...) Jenn & Shaun
Hey Flickr! Long time no see! I've been busy taking pictures! TWO weddings in one week! And now a Family shoot and Senior shoot coming up.....Boy my lazy white ### is dragging :P This shot was taken with the 14-24mm edited in Silver Efex Pro. Why the 14-24mm? Because she had 23 people in the wedding party xD

All night long my CLS worked perfectly up to this shot :(
I had a 900 off to the left that was to provide fill/rim light. It just wouldn't fire period. UGH!
The light from the right was from an 800 through a softbox. The 800 fired flawlessly all night. It was fired CLS from the SU-800 as commander BUT it was through a Radio popper PX.
The PX fired flawlessly ALL NIGHT! And I'm happy to report the batteries lasted all day and night too!
With the PX system you get the CLS high speed sync and reliability ( your cake and eat it too) Got to get another one of those receivers though.
The other big thing that helped during both weddings was flash battery pack extenders. I was shooting this 2nd wedding with batteries from the LAST wedding!
Not only that but the recycle time was much faster.
Strobist Info:
SB-800 24mm 1/8 through an Amvona softbox right
SB-900 left didn't fire :(
