GCCC Lighting event-110720
Another from a series taken at a lighting even I was helping with for a local photography club. E640W Einstein into a PCB 86" silver umbrella with a diffuser (making one BIG ole softbox) as key light camera left SB-900 with a 1/8 Honl grid right slightly back All triggered with Radio Poppers.
Out-take!
What you see is the typical cooperation my children give me when I try and take a photo of the two of them together.... Key light: Einstein into a 22" BD with a 30º grid between 1/256 and 1/128 power Kicker light: SB-900 with a Holn 1/4" grid @ 1/32 power Background light: SB-900 with a Honl purple gel @ 1/32 power ISO 200 ƒ2 1/125 D700 | 85mm 1.4 | SU-800 and Radio Popper PX system

Eastern State Penitentiary
I put the camera on a mono pod, then through the bars on the door. My friend held the back end of the mono pod to balance the rig. Too the shot using live view and a remote release.
Edited in HDR Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Viveza2 and finished off in Lightroom.Ali, tough girl at Eastern State Penitentiary (HDR)
Still have a lot to learn about composites.......
The background is hand held 'in camera' HDR shot with the D800, set to Auto (love the dynamic range of this camera)
The model was shot at a completely different location.
The composite and shadows were done in Elements 10 (yeah I don't own CS, sue me)
Final product was baked with a combination of Lightroom and Nik products; HDR Efex 2 and Color Efex 4.
Strobist info:
The lighting was three light set up ala Joel Grimes; two medium softboxes 10 or so feet away with grids at 45º angles behind model, large octobox overhead 5' from the model.
Both bg and model shot at similar perspectives using a 24mm lens.
