Happy Fathers Day!
He didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it. Fathers Day Quote by: Clarence Budington Kelland My Hero! He has always had a strong influence in my life, tough, but also very caring and loving person. Of course growing up you never appreciate your parents. I'm so glad to have him still in my life and to be able to say thank you. Thank you Dad for being a great role model! For the nitty gritty see the Strobist set up here
Misako 1/8000 sync
Just to let you know her glasses are colored yellow already! This is my first time at trying top knock down the sun so please don't beat me up too much but as always constructive criticism is always welcome! Stobist info here My step Mom taken on Father's Day. This was mid day sun ( we where in partial shade) Shot at f1.4 to blur the BG. CLS FP auto sync
Strobist info- Happy Fathers Day!
The purpose here besides shooting my Dad and Step Mom, is to see if I can sync at 1/8000 sec. Now it was over cast and more than enough light to take a portrait. But by adding a 1/2 CTO gel to the 900 I'm able to get a warmer light (which I happen to like, it may not be everyones cup of tea) Also I'm able to get some highlights on the right through the 800 Now realize I'm working with 1.4 aperture! I could have brought this down to f4 and still get a nice blur on the BG but I wanted to push the limits a bit! My first try at knocking down the sun so don't beat me up too much but as always you constructive criticism is always appreciated. Result is here For more info on high speed sync.......http://nikonclspracticalguide.blogspot.com/2008/03/10-auto-fp-high-speed-sync-explained.html
Test shot
Called this one 'test shot' because this is not the ambient light I wanted. I needed to be about 1/100 or 1/80 (or slightly higher ISO) See I got about three shots in and we had a little problem..........see the Strobist info shot and you might be able to figure it out! Here's the angle I wanted
Strobist info- Test shot
Note: Not enough time to switch to the 14-24. I moved back about 30' to get this shot. The 600 fired but the sensor to the 900 must not have been in line of sight to the commander flash and didn't fire. One of the down side to the CLS systems. Just to be fair it worked perfectly fine where I was shooting from.

I picked up a couple good tips, but most of this stuff I learned RIGHT HERE on FLICKR for FREE!Mr. Fantastic
Hey this is Nick (Mr. Fantastic) and Alex (hidden behind stretch). I bumped into them while taking pics of tonight's sunset. Turns out we have a common friend, Jimmy O'Donnell a contact of mine and a very talented local photog you can find Jim's awesome stream here. I keep bumping into his friends but never him! He's too busy shooting! As it turns out Nick is is a local pro photog too! Check his site out here. Both these guys were nice enough to do a very impromptu Strobist shot. Thanks guys! I only had my 14-24 on so I had to make the most of it therefore the stretch effect :P No modifier on the flash too windy! Good for sailing not umbrella strobing! For all the Strobist Geeks (like me:P) check out the Strobist setup here See it on Black bighugelabs.com/onblack.php?id=3652732116&posted=1
